Team Program Overview
ASG follows the Junior Olympic (J.O.) Program for developmental skill progression and competition as outlined by USA Gymnastics (USAG). USAG is the governing body that oversees the largest competitive gymnastics program in the United States. Women’s artistic gymnastics is comprised of four different events: Vault (V), Uneven Bars (UB), Balance Beam (BB) and Floor Exercise (FX). The sum of all the event scores determines the All-Around (AA) score. ASG Gymnasts compete on all four events.
· Levels 1 – 5 Compulsory Levels: These routines are developed by USAG and are different at each level of competition. The primary purpose is the mastery of fundamental gymnastics skills that will provide a basis for further development. To qualify for the State Championship competition, a gymnast must score a 32.00 AA in at least two separate sanctioned competitions.
· Levels 6 – 10 Optional Levels: Levels 6 to 10 are the optional levels of gymnastics competition. Routines are composed individually for each gymnast fulfilling requirements as stated by USAG. The difficulty and complexity of the routines increases with each level of optional competition.
· Xcel/Prep-Op: More information on our Excel/Prep-op program will be distributed to those chosen to join our program.
